I finally got my girl!

We have added a new member to our family!!!! We got a new puppy about 9 weeks ago! Sadly, we had to put down our 12 year old terrier mix, Scrappy, in June. He was dealing with Renal Failure and has been battling it for a year and half. When he was diagnosed with kidney failure last February, our vet gave him 3 months, but he hung on for another year and half, Towards the end, things got worse very fast. It was a difficult decision, but he was in pain and miserable. He was a great dog, and will be missed so much. Last January, Jason and I decided that eventually we wanted to get another dog, but we wanted to take care of Scrappy first and make the rest of his life happy and comfortable. We did a lot of research and decided on the breed of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. We knew that we would have to find a great breeder and do some research. After a year of looking and talking to many people, we decided on a breeder! We found a great family out of Oxford,MS who decided to breed their family dogs. Jason loved the idea of a Chessie because they are great hunting dogs, and this family have great hunting dogs!! We knew that whatever dog we picked, it would be trained to go water fowl hunting with Jason. In the talks of getting a new dog, I also said that I wanted to get a girl dog; I need some more estrogen in this house!! We visited Oxford a few times to see the puppies and pick the one we want. On August 3, we anxiously drove the hour to MS to pick up our girl!! Her registered name is Lady Remington of Wolf Creek, but we call her Remi for short. She has been such a great addition to our family!! She is laid back and LOVES the boys. Jason has been training her since day one and has even gone out a couple of times with him to the field. He has done an awesome job with her and I am such a proud Momma!!

Remi The boys have been doing great too! Jason is in soccer right now and loves it! We may have a true soccer player on our hands! Jack turned 3 last week and he is such a big boy now! Jacob will be 2 in December, and is such an awesome little boy. He doesn't talk much, but we are working on it!! Jason has been working a lot and he is now on the Burglary Task Force. He is now working M-F, and I love this schedule. We are all home on the weekends!! Life here is good, but chaotic. The holidays are coming, and we are getting ready for them!! The boys are super excited about Halloween. Jay will be a soldier (again), Jack Buzz Lightyear and Jacob will be a cowboy. Jason's mom will be here for Thanksgiving and my parents will be here for Christmas. Being back at work has been good and it has helped my mindset. We have a new routine going and things are working!!

New Life

I'm such a horrible blogger. Truly, I am. I love sitting down and actually writing about how things are going and updating, but life is so chaotic. My last post was in March, and I updated everyone on the boys and our life at that point. And since then, things have changed so much!! I finally finished my Master's program! It took 2 LONG years, but I am so happy I did it. I had a great mentor to help me with getting my hours and sitting in on many phone conferences! I am forever grateful to her. We all went to the beach in July with my parents, sister, brother in law and my grandmother. The boys had an amazing time there; they loved the water, the sand, and being with everyone. I was so sad to leave, but grateful for all the memories made there. This summer has been busy with preparing for a beach trip and finishing my school work.I also was offered a job!! Yes, I am teaching again and I am back at my old school. I taught at Bolton for 4 years and was so sad to leave in 2010. However, I am now back at BHS teaching English 10 again. I am also a co teacher, something I did for the 4 years I was there before, but I have a new partner. Rachel is a great partner to work with and she knows her stuff. Helps that we are friends outside of work too!! The only sad thing is that she will be leaving me and our kids for a whole 9 weeks, but I guess it's for a great reason! Baby Hallie will be here very, very soon!! The boys are doing great and getting big! Jay is 5 and started kindergarten this year! Jack will be 3 in a few weeks and Jacob is becoming a little boy more and more! I hope to update more!

Life

WOW! I cannot believe it has been since October since I posted!! I apologize to all my followers who wait oh so patiently for my every post! Ha! To say that things have been crazy the past couple of months would be an understatement! Jacob turned 1 in December and we had a great Christmas. Then, on January 2, Jason left to go to South Carolina for 10 weeks! He is training to become a Drill Sgt. in the Army. I do have to say that since he has left, things have been crazy!! The week that he left, his dad went into the hospital and it was a very nerve wracking and concerning couple of days. I left for New Orleans the day he went into the hospital and spent 2 weeks down there with my in laws and my parents. Safe to say that my father in law has made a great recovery and doing well. After the 2 weeks in NOLA, my mom and Granny came back to Memphis with me. I started doing my intern hours in January and I used this time to get them done. I also retook my PRAXIS exam when I got back to Memphis ( I PASSED!). Mom and Granny were here for a week to help with the boys while I did my internship hours. After they left my mother in law came up here for 3 weeks. She watched the boys while I continued to get in as many hours as possible!! After 3 weeks here, we left for Ruston. I spent a week in Ruston visiting my sister in law and brother in law and seeing their kids! The boys had so much fun. I was also able to spend time with Jason's gradfather and his wife. We left on Monday to come home, to finish up the last week and half of Jason's training at home. However, Tuesday, February 28, 2012 will be a date forever in my memory. My lively, precious baby Jacob woke up very sick. I knew something was wrong immediately. He was not very responsive and was very lethargic. I called the doctor, but decided not to wait for our 9am appointment and called 911. Calling 911 was so surreal and scary. As soon as I got off the phone, I called some great friend of ours, Richie and Michelle Hillyard, they are Jacob's godparents. I told Richie I needed him here, that an ambulance was coming, and I needed him to sit with the boys. No questions were asked, and he was here. The ambulance showed up and Jay started to get upset and Jackson wouldn't leave my side. There were 6 paramedics in my living room. Jake was on the couch, not moving, but vitals were good. I rode with him in the ambulance to Le Bonheur downtown. As soon as we got to the ER, the doctors started poking and prodding. They had a hard time getting an IV in him and with every stick I begged God to let him cry, but he did not. He did not respond to ANY of the nurses and doctors who were trying to get an IV in him. A mother never wants her babies to cry, but this day I wanted him to cry so bad; it would show that he was responsive. At one point they thought he was having a seizure and at that point I lost it. At that same time, they had another emergency come into the ER; a car accident that involved 3 children, all siblings. I could hear them calling for their mom and their mom running after the stretcher assuring them that she was there. It was so much to take in. I was at the ER by myself and I did not want to totally lose it. The staff kept asking me if I had anyone coming and I said no and started crying. They sent in a social worker to sit with me for a bit. The doctors did a CT scan and then a Spinal Tap. Both came back great. Jcob did not start waking up until about 5, right before he went in for his X-Rays. He screamed the whole time during the X-Rays, and it was music to my ears. At this point in time, my dad and Jason's step mom were on their way. Michelle had come to the ER to sit with me around 2,and Donna got there just in time for Jacob to get his first EEG done. The EEG is a procedure where they have to stck all these probes on his head to check his brain waves; they were checking to see if he had had a seizure. The doctors admitted him to the hospital for observation. He was dehydrated and lethargic, but were not sure why. We spent the night in the hospital, I slept in the hospital crib with Jake. Let's just say not much sleep on my part was done, but I was happy to have my baby boy sleeping on me. More tests were done the next day,another EEG and checking his sugar. Donna stayed with me that night and my dad stayed with the boys. Doctors decided that we should stay another night so they could check his sugar every 4 hours. Those results came back great. We were released on Thursday, with no real answers. I just pray that this episode never happens again. Jacob is doing great now and is back to his normal self! Jason comes home on Thursday. I am beyond excited. The trip to the ER did a number on me and I can't wait to have him home. He struggled with the idea of not bing here when it all happened, but it was besthe stayed in SC, being that nothing was life threatening (Praise God!) and he was so close to finishing! So, that has been my life since my last post!! I am steadily getting my house back together and trying to get back into our normal routine. Our family picture!
